• St. Barthélemy, a volcanic island fully encircled by shallow reefs, has an area of 22.1 km² and a population of 9,000 people. Its capital is Gustavia, which also contains the island’s main harbor.
• Located approximately 250 km east of Puerto Rico and the nearer Virgin Islands, St. Barth lies immediately southeast of the islands of Saint Martin and Anguilla. It lies northeast of Saba and St. Eustatius, and north of St. Kitts.
• There are 22 public beaches and 15 are considered suitable for swimming. They are categorized and divided into two groups, the leeward side and windward side. The most comfortable for a swim are
• St. Jean beach, Shell beach, Gouverneur beach, Saline beach, Colombier beach(can only be reached on foot and is a protected natural area) Lorient beach and Corossol bach.
The summer lasts from April to November (the rainy season with occasional showers) with an average temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, around 86 degrees Fahrenheit.
Winter runs from December to March. Humidity levels are not very high due to the gentle Caribbean breezes. Average temperature is 28 degrees Celsius in December, around 82 degrees Fahrenheit.
